In 1985, the family bought the farm and planted the first vines that soon became 2.5 hectares, forming a set of three small plots -Casendo, Veque and O Gaiteiro- in the parish of Goian (Tomiño), in the final stretch of the Minho valley, looking to Portugal. Mostly Albariño, we also have a good representation of white Caiño and something of Loureiro, planted on mixed soils of shales, clays and boulders of fluvial origin.
Biologist and graduate in environment, Martin Crusat and Patricia Elola, we decided in 2012 to leave behind ten years working abroad to root next to the vineyards and start a vital project.
Vimbio was our first wine and the one that gives name to the winery. Its name is the Galician term for wicker, long and flexible rods used traditionally to bind the vines to the guides. It is also our promise and commitment to work in a sustainable, manual and close to the earth way. We believe that there is only one way to go, respect for the land and towards the consumer.
